Dress Lover
First off, don't ask what the blue bowls were all about in every shot. They were obviously very important to her today because she played with them (and would not set them down) for over 2 hours. I wish she would find them(or something) THAT interesting every day to keep her busy!
Seriously, do any of your children out there act differently when they are dressed a certain way? For example: Sleepy when they put their pj's on for bed? Ready to roll around in the dirt and be rough with the other children in the sandbox in their "park play-clothes?" Or, better yet, do they act like a princess the second you take them out of their "regular clothing" and put them in a tutu dress of some sort?
I'm having "these issues." She seemed dazed and confused today (maybe it had to do with the fact that her father dressed her like a pot smoking hippie). The outfit is adorable, but for sure hippie'ish. I'm the one who bought it because I KNEW he would love it and dress her in it (Naartjie is the brand and she wears it often...South African clothing boutique).
So, we came home and I thought, "What the heck, lets play dress up together!"
I put her in her cute tutu Kate Mack dress that her Yaya bought her and all of a sudden her personality changed. She was dancing and twirling around like a ballerina or something. Now, how in the heck does she know to do such a thing? She's never seen one. I can't even get her to watch a split second fo television. She's only 16 months old...can someone explain this to me? Does this just come with being a girl?
She LOVES dresses and I SWEAR she acts different (better in my opinion) when she's dressed to the nine. I can't keep up with her. She'll go in her closet and rip down all of her jeans and hide them in random places. Is she trying to tell me that she doesn't like wearing them? Is she just being rotten? If I open up a new bank account tomorrow, will you all support me by depositing "Salem's dress money" in it for me? Please?????? I don't think I can afford a new, frilly, princess looking tutu dress, (that just about knocks anyone over within 5 ft. of her because the damn thing is so puffy) on a daily basis just to keep the both of us sane.
Is this just me? Is my daughter "special?" Do you think she has already developed an opinion of what she does and doesn't like to wear? Have we had this conversation before; because I feel like we have? I need help here people!

My daughter is now 8 years old, but she has alway acted differently when she dresses up. She acts more mature and her manners are GREAT when she's in her dresses. Okay, so maybe that was a couple of years ago on the manners thing. But NOW she has an ATTITUDE that rears its head when she dressed up. She thinks and acts like she is some hot shit. She a total snob!
Noel!!! She's so cute. BTW, as a mommy of two dress up girlies, I can totally relate. We were at David's Bridal trying on dresses for Gary's sister's wedding this summer and both girls wanted to keep the dress (of choice) on for the duration. 2.5 hours after being in the store, I was done. Elle pitched a fit b/c we were leaving the dresses in the store. It only gets more dramatic mama so be prepared. Good on your mom for her exceptional taste...I love Kate Mack's stuff. Check here for more items:www.girlygaloreboutique.com. I will order the previous sessons items to save b/c I'm not buying jeans for a 4 yo that are $90! Have fun in NY (but that goes without saying). Love you honey ;)
Need I say more Noel than this...She's a girl! Oh, and one more thing, she is just like her Mamma. You certainly have met your match on this earth, with Salem. I love her to pieces! Next dress might be even puffier!!
Love, YaYa
Abigail loves to wear dresses too! However, her true passion is shoes. When she puts on her daddys boots she stomps around all rough and tough, but put girlfriend in a pair of heels and she is as prim and proper as the debutaunt next door. I am opening an "Abigail shoe fund" if you would like to donate. :}
OMG!!!! That is SO cute! I am guessing that she does like dresses, but I also bet that YOU change your reactions to her when she is in one! She may just be reacting to you sighing and exclaiming over how wonderful she is!!
Kaite---YOU ARE SOOOOOO RIGHT!!!
No matter what she wears. She is adorable!! Just adorable!
